The National Director of MUMO, Ms Elaine Daly said, “It gives me great pleasure to be able to helm this prestigious pageant. A title that I for one have been very grateful to have, and now to be part of this exciting journey once again seeing these 18 ducklings transform into beautiful swans.”
“Winning the crown is without a doubt, an opportunity of a lifetime but only one girl will have the privilege of wearing the Miss Universe Malaysia title. 13 years ago, I was given the honour of representing Malaysia on the Miss Universe stage. It was an amazing experience for me, and I am so proud to be able to guide and groom our young ladies here today to go on that same journey that I once undertook,” she added.
Elaine continued, “The 2017 pageant will be very exciting to watch. From the reality show to seeing the girls grow and eventually find our delegate to represent our country, all I can say is keep your eyes and ears peeled. It's going to be hip, urban, relevant and real.”
During Orientation Week, the 18 finalists went through an intensive training session where they received a crash course in various areas including pageant knowledge, catwalk lessons, grooming and fitness. Following a hair makeover by industry experts, the girls put their knowledge to test and posed for a series of photo shoot challenges. Additionally, the finalists also had the opportunity to speak with key industry leaders in a unique one-on-one mingling session.
The journey of the 18 finalists will be captured and shown over 40 webisodes in a reality show-style series on YouTube by online lifestyle channel, hurr.tv starting November 2016. Viewers can also catch the show on DIVA, available exclusively on Astro Channel 702 and DIVA HD Astro Channel 723 starting December 2016 onwards.
