Thursday, July 18, 2013 – Kuala Lumpur: After the announcement of 40 finalists who will contest for The Next Miss Universe Malaysia 2014, the organizers, Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO) are bent in giving their audiences more than what you would normally expect. And that’s not only in account of the quality of candidates, but also of the ways it has chosen to approach the contest stages.

“Aside from injecting more focus and professionalism, there will be more interactive involvement from the public this year. You’ll not only get to follow the 40 finalists but help them out by voting online from 18 – 31 July,” says Elaine Daly who was introduced several weeks ago as Pageant Advisor and Mentor.

The pageant which kicked-off with its first round of shortlists last Saturday and Sunday cleared all doubts that it was going to be an interesting journey for both the contestants and public. Among its panel of star-studded judges included names like Datuk Yasmin Yusuff, Amber Chia, Maslin Roslan and Elaine Daly. After the two day event, 40 finalists were picked out of 100 contestants. They have been announced over the Miss Universe Malaysia official website and Facebook page.

But how far would you go to support your contestant? For the first time in Malaysia, fans of contestants can download the The Next Miss Universe Malaysia TNMUM14 mobile application for free from the App Store and Google Play; solve puzzles and be entitled to cast more votes.

“We want to actively change perceptions when it comes to picking the appropriate individual; so public opinion matters. You can now vote for your favorite shortlisted contestants via the TNMUM14 app which will run for two weeks,” says Daly.

In the final legs of the pageant, finalists will be featured in a reality TV program which will document their efforts and delights; leading to the main event.
