Wednesday, 19 November 2014 - The Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO) announced the names of the Top 17 finalists of the Next Miss Universe Malaysia 2015at Marini's on 57 in Kuala Lumpur City Centretoday following a search that was conducted in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu over the span of six months.
The Top 17 finalists are (in alphabetical order):Amanda Khong, April Tang, Ashley Ahn, Gloria Tneh, Jasveer Sandhu, Jenny Wong, Kelly Jagan, Kohinoor Kaittiani, Meera Maniar, Nisha Kumar, Pauline Tan, Pauline Thong, Shaelina Martin, Shalini Mathialagan, Sugeeta Chandran, Vaishnevi Thanaseharan and Vanessa Tevi.
The 17finalists will undergofour weeks of intensive training program where they will be tested in various areas including catwalk, styling, public speaking and more. Once again this year, the behind-the-scenes and training program will be captured on film and broadcasted on national TV. Based on viewer's feedback, there will be a special twist to the reality show this year. Fans can expect to catch the Top 17 finalists in a series of webisodes which includes exclusive behind-the-scenes footage on MUMO�s official Youtube channel on the second week of February 2015 before it airs on 8TV in mid-March 2015.
Apart from the reality TV show, fans can once again expect an interactive element to the pageant via The Next Miss Universe Malaysia (TNMUM) mobile application available for free from the iTunes App Store and Google PlayStore, and be entitled to cast votes for their favourite finalist.
Another exciting development for fans of MUMO this year is the launch of the Miss Universe Malaysia merchandise where fans can purchase memorabilia such as t-shirts, postcards and more via the e-store set to launch in December this year.
MUMO's newly appointed National Director, Ms Carey Ng, the winner of Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 says, �The Miss Universe Malaysia title holder can expect a life-changing experience once she wears the crown. As Miss Universe Malaysia, she will carry the title wherever she goes, and automatically become a public figure. She will have a platform to brand herself and carry out what she is passionate about. In addition, she will also have opportunities to network with prominent, influential figures all over the world and work with leading fashion players, and at the same time, be challenged emotionally, mentally and physically."
She added, "Through this documented journey, we will watch the unveiling of each girl�s potential and their attitude for success. This will not be an easy process but diamonds are made under pressure. I wish the finalists the best of luck."
The local pageant for Miss Universe Malaysia 2015 will be held in Kuala Lumpur in April 2015. The crowned winner will have an opportunity of a lifetime to travel abroad representing Malaysia at the Miss Universe pageant to be held in the later part of 2015. Additionally, she will also receive a cash prize of RM48,000 and sponsored prizes worth over RM100,000.
