Carven Ong, Director and Founder of Carven Ong Couture

Known to have designed iconic pieces for Hollywood blockbuster movie Crazy Rich Asians, Carven Ong is an established Malaysian homegrown couture fashion designer who’s also created the outstanding “Peranakan Indulgence” National Costume for Miss Universe Malaysia 2019, Shweta Sekhon.

To Carven, the potential winner must possess a personal style in order to stand out from the rest. She must have empathy and a voice that is able to move the needle, create positive changes such as to spread awareness on humanity issues and to create an impact.

Datin Selwinder Kaur, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GLOJAS Smart International Aesthetic

Datin Selwinder Kaur is a firm believer in women empowerment and various charitable drives. At Glojas Health Clinic, a facility focused on hair restoration and aesthetics, she is highly involved in bringing out the best in all her patients.

As a judge on the panel, she is looking for a winner with beauty and substance. She hopes that this winner will make use of the platform and title to address issues that are timely and relevant to the younger generation such as cyber bullying, abuse, and mental health.

Dato’ Hans Isaac, Entrepreneur, Producer, Director and Actor

Dato’ Hans Isaac is an Award-Winning Director and have been actively involved in the creative media & arts industry for the past 27 years, and featured in over 800 TV, film & dramas.

To him on what makes an ideal beauty queen is that she must be intelligent, knowledgeable on current issues, possess physical beauty and radiates the aura of a true Miss Universe queen.
He also hopes that the next winner will be her real self with class at all times.

Deborah Henry, Miss Universe Malaysia 2011, TV Host and co-Founder of Fugee School

Former Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 Deborah Henry was listed in the Forbes list of Asian Philanthropists in 2013. She is known for her work responding to the plight of refugees in Malaysia and their rights to fair & equal opportunities to education; which led to the birth of Fugee School; a non-profit education hub for refugee children in Malaysia.

Deborah sees a beauty queen as the flag bearer of our nation; hence she is looking for someone who is authentic and relatable. Being crowned as Miss Universe Malaysia gives woman a platform of privilege and power. Her advice to the next winner would be to use that wisely, find a voice and speak out about issues close to her heart.

Dr Nicholas Lim, Medical Director and Aesthetic Medical Practitioner of La Jung Aesthetic Clinic

Dr Nicholas Lim serves as the Assistant Secretary of Malaysian Society of Aesthetic Medicine and holds the Letter of Credentialing and Privileging for aesthetic medical practice in Malaysia. A leading doctor at La Jung, Kuala Lumpur’s most prestigious aesthetic clinic, he believes that minimal aesthetic procedures can enhance one’s beauty, self-esteem and confidence.

Dr Nicholas is looking for a potential winner with a beautiful soul, character and exudes elegance. Other than being able to showcase the best version of herself self, the next Miss Universe Malaysia has to actively practice self-love and above all, to spread kindness everywhere she goes.

Janet Chieng, Executive Director of Esthetics International Group Berhad (EIG)

Janet Chieng is a firm believer of women empowerment. At EIG, a leading beauty and wellness company in Malaysia and the exclusive distributor of international brands including @dermalogica_my; @biotherapeutic_my; @tisserandmsia and @bioxil_innertreats – Janet is committed to helping people including 700 over employees at EIG where 89% of them are female; to become the best versions of themselves.

Janet wishes to find a Miss Universe Malaysia who will inspire and leave a legacy not only for their beauty and desire to help make a difference in our world, but also for their ability to follow through with resilience. She has to be a spokesperson for the organization and her country to build peace in society through compassion and empathy.

Shawn Loong, Celebrity Stylist, Founder and Creative Director of Shawn Cutler Group of Salons

Shawn Loong has 32 years’ of experience in the hairdressing industry and has styled numerous local and international celebrities. The most rewarding part of dedicating his passion and professional skills, is when he is able to make people look and feel good about themselves.

To Shawn that in order for a contestant to shine and capture hearts, she must show great confidence, exude great attitude with a positive mind set. He would like to see a winner who is grounded and humble with her title and position, and possess a strong will to push through against obstacles and challenges thrown her way.
