TWIN TOWERS❜ NATIONAL COSTUME, EVENING GOWN & NATIONAL GIFT FOR THE 65TH MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT UNVEILED

KUALA LUMPUR, Thursday, 5 January 2017 – Majestic and an iconic symbolic of Malaysia, the ❛Twin Towers❜ National Costume, along with the exclusive Preliminary Evening Gown and National Gift for the 65th Miss Universe Pageant were unveiled by reigning Miss Universe Malaysia 2016 Kiran Jassal at a press conference held at Marini’s on 57 today.

The National Costume and Preliminary Evening Gown by designer Rizman Ruzaini will be showcased by Kiran Jassal at the 65th annual Miss Universe Pageant National Costume Show and Preliminary Show respectively, to be held on 30 January 2017 in Manila, Philippines.

The Petronas Twin Towers were selected as Rizman Ruzaini’s iconic inspiration in designing the National Costume. The towers are depicted through the outline which resembles the letter ❛M❜ representing Malaysia while the embellished design resembles one of Malaysia’s traditional handicrafts, basket weaving, which highlights her strong cultural heritage. The costume is a silver-coloured jumpsuit, embellished with multi-coloured Swarovski diamonds. Both sleeves are exaggerated to represent the Twin Towers, and complemented with a diamond choker, representing the sky bridge that connects the two towers.

Materials on the costume are specially custom-made to emulate glass windows that sparkle under the sunlight. Diamonds are fashioned to represent the steel beams that the Twin Towers are best known for in a glamorous and opulent manner. On the shoulders and wrapped around the sleeves are laser cut metal encrusted with diamonds and sparkles that were handmade especially for Kiran. It was inspired by the silhouette of the elegant yet powerful Twin Towers all shrouded in glamour and futuristic style. The base of the look which is a diamond encrusted jumpsuit is to better show the two towers separated by the leg of the jumpsuit. The bodice of the jumpsuit were given clashing panels treatment to illustrate the shapes and structures of the magnificent Petronas Twin Towers.

The vital link for the Twin Towers which is the Sky Bridge is not left out in the design, and is symbolised by the neck embellishment. The neck choker that is embellished with crystals and glitter is the perfect reflection of the bridge, a symbolic gateway to the city of Kuala Lumpur.

This year, the press conference also showcased the National Gift to be presented by each contestant to the host city. Kiran will be presenting an exclusive ❛Swarovski Kuala Lumpur Scarf❜ by The dUCk Group, which follows through the Kuala Lumpur skyline theme.

The unique and exclusive ❛Swarovski Kuala Lumpur Scarf❜ created by Malaysia❜s very own brand – dUCk, is crafted in lustrous satin silk. The ❜s best-selling iconic design was created in a new pink hue specifically for the Miss Universe pageant, and features the glorious Kuala Lumpur skyline in illustrated form. World famous landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Towers and the KL Tower are juxtaposed against the gleaming skyscrapers of the city, symbolising its growth, modernity and technological connectivity. What further sets this scarf apart is the 500 individual pieces of Swarovski crystals, each carefully placed by hand – further highlighting the scarf and the city❜s magnificent structures.
